Many of us would like to think that opioid use won’t affect our daily lives, but unfortunately that’s not the case. Family members, colleagues, clients, or friends may be at risk, which means we each may be in a position to help in a crisis like a potential overdose. If that happens, would you know the signs of an overdose if someone near you at school, work, or home experiences them? Would you like to learn about Narcan (the brand name for Naloxone), a life-saving FDA- approved medication that reverses overdose effects from opioids including heroin, fentanyl, oxycodone, and morphine? Do you have questions about Xylazine, a veterinary tranquilizer finding its way into the local opioid supply and scary headlines? What about resources for talking to youth about substance use?
Join us for a special CORE Coffee Chat on Practical Tools to Save Lives from Overdoses, featuring two speakers with practical knowledge to share: Jen Hastings, MD and Ali Hayes, MPH from the Santa Cruz Safe Rx Coalition. In this Coffee Chat, we will:
Learn what we can all do to prevent and reverse overdoses
Get information, tips, and resources that can help all of us contribute to preventing overdoses, especially among youth.
Invite your friends, co-workers, family, and other community members to attend this important event with you.
